For the

“What the Hell Am I Doing?”

Phase

A white queer woman therapist with short curly hair and tattoos on her arm, wearing a beige sleeveless top and beige pants, sitting on a mustard-colored couch with a brick wall background, holding a white mug and smiling with eyes closed.

Consultation services for finding your therapist vibe and clinical style, navigating private practice, LGBTQ+ issues, OCD, EMDR, & more!

Feeling like you barely learned how to be a therapist & were basically thrown to the sharks?

…Yup, been there.

Consulting with me is the support & inside scoop you should’ve gotten from day one - honest, real, a little unhinged in the best way, & grounded in actual experience (and not the tons of random theories grad school made us memorize).

There’s so much about this field I wish people had prepared me for before I graduated. I started my first private practice job feeling clueless. I’ve learned a ton since (I even used to host a podcast about this LOL), & I’m passionate about sharing the lessons I’ve learned with as many people as I can!

Who This Is For

Consulting with me is open to all clinicians!

but I have a soft spot for:

  • Grad students & recent grads trying to understand the actual day-to-day of being a therapist

  • LGBTQ+ therapists navigating identity, boundaries, & all the nuance that comes with being a queer clinician

  • Therapists navigating working at a private / group practice for the first time & wondering what’s “normal”

  • Allies: Cis & straight clinicians who want to ask LGBTQ+ related questions without fear of “messing up”

  • Clinicians figuring out their therapy style & niche

What We Can Talk About

*

What We Can Talk About *

    • How to advertise yourself in a way that feels like you

    • Who you’re drawn to working with (and why)

    • Is a professional social media account for you?

    • What you bring to the room (skills, personality, lived experience) and how to own that

    • How to make the cool, fun, & quirky traits you have as a therapist shine even though it would have sent Freud into a coma back in the day

    • Any and all questions from non-queer therapists who work with queer clients (there are no bad questions!)

    • Navigating the nuances of being a queer clinician

      • (like what to do if you see your client at the gay bar…), boundaries, self-disclosure, safety, & cultural competence

    • Making your workplace, paperwork, website, & environment more inclusive

    • Writing letters of support for gender affirming care & surgery

    • How to protect queer & trans clients in clinical documentation

    • What working at a private / group practice actually looks like - pace, culture, policies, boundaries

    • Understanding pay structures, red flags, and workplace expectations

    • How to create a schedule that works for your life (and doesn’t have you dissociating between sessions)

    • What’s normal vs. what’s you being overworked or undervalued

    • Starting your own private practice (not business coaching)

    • Case consults for OCD, especially taboo/intrusive thought themes (Pure O)

    • ERP & ACT approaches to OCD treatment

    • EMDR questions, support, and real-talk about what works for clients

      • *I am NOT an EMDR certified consultant. But I am EMDR trained & here to offer my experience-based support.

    • When you need to pick another therapist’s brain on something

    • When you’re doubting yourself

    • When a case feels tangled and you want clarity

Style & Experience

A queer NYC therapist with short curly dark hair, wearing a cream colored shirt, green pants, and brown shoes, sitting on a mustard yellow therapy couch with a checkered throw pillow in a room with a brick wall, writing therapy notes in a notebook.

Supervisees have often told me they really vibed with my style - how fun & real I keep things, how I talk honestly about the messy parts of this field, & how I share the stuff other supervisors often gatekeep.

My Style

Supervising

I have experience as an EMDR peer supervisor, providing guidance to other clinicians on my team who were newly trained in the modality & building their skills.

I supervised clinical interns for several years at a private practice, guiding them from their first client session ever, to processing termination, & everything in between.

Together, we explored what styles & modalities felt best for them, what kind of clients they liked working with, job searching for post-graduation, & more!

Trainings & Workshops

I’ve conducted trainings & workshops to teams of therapists and medical professionals on:

  • LGBTQ+ 101, affirming practices, and practical skills to make your workplace more inclusive

  • Protecting LGBTQ+ clients in clinical documentation

  • Treatment of OCD & the “untraditional” ways it can manifest
